Lady Gaga to Honor David Bowie at The Grammys

Lady Gaga to Honor David Bowie at The Grammys

Today it was annouced that 6-time Grammy winner and current nominee Lady Gaga will perform a special tribute to the late music superstar David Bowie at the 58th GRAMMYs,

Longtime Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich, has told in a recent interview that Lady Gaga had already been booked for the show before David Bowie died. But as soon as the news emerged, Mr. Ehrlich began discussing a possible tribute with the singer and her manager Bobby Campbell. Over the next week, Mr. Ehrlich added, he was contacted by numerous other artists who wanted to participate: some of whom might have made sense; the vast majority didn’t, he said — but he stuck to the idea of Lady Gaga solo.

"We had already booked Lady Gaga on this year's show, but when David passed — almost in a single moment, we knew we had to change direction," said Ken Ehrlich, We immediately spoke and agreed that she should be the one to honor David. She's perfect for it. So I reached out to Nile and, before long, we were on our way to creating what we believe will not only make a great GRAMMY Moment, but one befitting of David."

The musical director for Lady Gaga's tribute is three-time GRAMMY winner Nile Rodgers, whose own history with Bowie dates back more than 30 years to "Let's Dance," the chart-topping 1983 hit that marked the beginning of a lifelong friendship between the two. Ken Ehrlich also revealed that Gaga's tribute wont be the opening act of the show and it will probably last six or seven minutes and she will cover tree or four songs. Lady Gaga's performance is going to be a true homage to who David was, particularly musically, but not ignoring his influence on fashion and pop culture in a broader way.”-said Ehrlich.

The show will aired on February 15 and it will be broadcast on CBS including performances by Adele, Kendrick Lamar, the Weeknd, Carrie Underwood, Tori Kelly, Ellie Goulding and many others.
