Lady Gaga's first single "Applause" from her current album ARTPOP won at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards Japan in the categorie of Best Pop Video. The win marks Gaga's 5th Japanese award becoming the most awarded Western act in VMAJ history.

New York City based producer Ian Spurrier has never let any genre define boundaries his taste and inspiration. Growing up he moved from learning guitar to learning to produce electronic music, and now the guy known to fans as Fareoh hasn't let any recent definitions of club house remixing allow him to be confined to anything boring. And not only because Grant Harris (the Chicago-based wizz behind this glorious mix) does an incredible job of deconstructing “Applause” and transforming it into a dreamy synth gem that sounds custom-made for an Ibiza sunset. Inez van Lamsweerde Explains 'Applause' Video
MTV News spoke to Inez van Lamsweerde, one half of the directing duo Inez & Vinoodh, about the video. “She’ll do anything in this video to make her audience happy and give them inspiration,” Inez said on the phone, hours after the premiere, noting that she and Vinoodh were inspired by silent movies and early horror films. “We wanted to bring it back to a very basic element.”
